Watching the Donner Party movie on Netflix. Conversation was brought up about my trip to the Donner Memorial State Park.
For those who do not know of the Donner Party. The Donner Party was an 87-member group of American pioneers who set out in a wagon train going westward, until getting bound in by snow in the Sierra Nevada. Casualties were extremely high and many of the survivors cannibalized members of the party who had already died. -Wikipedia
Note: The group separated, the one party turned to cannibalism. The actual Donner party didn’t.
Reason we went there was because my good friend and writer of Gallows Humor wanted to show me the cooked human finger bone they had on display there when she went there years ago. We get there and checked out the museum and the great history. But no finger bone. We asked the ranger or the person working at the museum. She actually DENIED that there was ever any cannibalism involved. Even though there are records of it in history.
I wish I got the name of the woman working there, she didn’t look like a uneducated employee, she had ranger clothes. I got worried that they’re trying to rewrite history or something. There are arguments about them CONSIDERING cannibalism but not acting on it. Though growing up, I remember textbooks showing pictures of written records of the survivors admitting to it. So I don’t know what to believe anymore.

I’m more interested in the pirate ship displayed in the museum.
